    Windsor Jones Album ***LEAKED***

Ok… so, I know it’s been a while and we have a lot of catching up to do but (don’t hate me) I’ve been working at this chic women’s clothing store at the mall! By the way, there’s apparently more to retail than pretending that you’re in a big closet, taking selfies in the mirror of YOUR dressing room, and trying on ALL of your clothes! Who would have thought?

Getting back to business, I met The Next Big Artist Windsor Jones downtown near Piedmont Avenue. Today, there was a photo shoot and as usual, I was photo ready! Cooley James [manager] introduced me to the photographer, Steve Walton and the shoot began. I can definitely see why this area was chosen. Atlanta has always been a prime spot for photography and filming, thanks to the picturesque backdrops not to mention, the historical areas that have homes that range from everything between the small-shack on a long country road, to the Victorian style old-south home reminiscent of the 1800’s.

Being that The Next Big Artist Windsor Jones has a well-established Atlanta based brand (working in the entertainment industry for well over 10 years), gaining credits and praise for his work on movies like The Walking Dead and television shows such as Red Band Society; it’s obvious there’s progression going on here. In a journalistic nature, I asked the purpose of the photo shoot to which Windsor answered, “We jus kickn shit baby”… [Everyone laughs]… “Nah, I’m working with Steve for casting-call pictures; as I move from behind the scene of some of these productions that I work on.” While there was a short break to review a few of the shots, I thought it would be a great time to ask about the recent leak of the upcoming mixtape! Seemingly poised and full of confidence, The Next Big Artist Windsor Jones simply smiled and replied, “No-pressure” to which I could only reply, “Well-put.” The shooting commenced, then between shots he added, “Last year I put out a song with (Shawty) Lo, a remix with Jeezy and Tip (T.I.), as well as a feature on Ms. Chee’s “No Limit Forever” mixtape. It’s B.S.G.O…Boss Shit Goin On.”

As the shoot ended, I asked if the leak would affect any marketing plans or the release date. “Not really,” said Cooley James as he walked me to my car and added, “When you have an artist with this kind of work ethic... something like a mixtape leak is more like free promotion because you already have a catalogue of songs to choose from anyway… that alone, can be difficult sometimes. I just see the leak as the streets way of showing anticipation of the project that we spent last quarter building a buzz around!”

Windsor Jones Bio: The Next Big Artist

SO AMAZING. Two words that will be sung in your head for hours after hearing the new hit single by Atlantas’ own Windsor Jones, featuring fellow Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo, titled “So Amazing.” Becoming popular on Atlanta’s strip club scene the song earned Windsor a spot on Atltop20.com as having one of the top 20 songs to look out for in 2014. The song, as he describes, has a real playa-like aura which you become hypnotically acquainted with if you’ve ever encountered Windsor and his entourage at one of the many clubs he has performed or even simply, turnt up at.  Windsor captures the essence of the historical Atlanta culture, and the new hip-hop driven sub-culture in his music. What you get from it is an expressive, lyrically infused energy based on popular American culture… its Hip Hop, its Atlanta, its classic as Coca-Cola, mixed with a  bit of Hennessey.

Formerly known as Dat Boy Tragic, Windsor first gained recognition on the Atlanta indie artist scene in 2005, with the hottest single that year from a newcomer, “What’s Goin On.” Working the Indie/Underground circuit, he recorded two songs that were featured on Lions Gate production, “My Girlfriends back,” and numerous Radio One PSA’s.  In 2009, the campaign saw a nomination for Hottest Male Artist at the SEA Awards, and later that year the Whatsgoinontv.com website was conceptualized and now boasts of close to half a million views.

In 2012 Dat Boy Tragic… The Precise Playa, graduated from the streets. Having completed that school of knowledge, he emerged as a distinguished businessman. Windsor Jones…The Bossed Up Underdog. The same year, he would birth the first ever “Mixtape A Month” campaign. In early 2014, Windsor again, flexed skills by intuitively, innovating the Indie Rap scene with his “Mixtape In A Day” campaign, earning him a nomination for Hottest Male Rapper by Atlshottest.com. Now, with over 20 mixtapes in the streets over a ten-year span, Windsor is poised to meet the expectations of his highly anticipated upcoming project titled, “F**k Being Humble #BSGO”.  Get ready for the Windsor effect… The Next Big Atlanta phenom!

    Late Night at Apache Cafe

It was a cold brisk Thursday evening. I pulled up near The Varsity which is a historic fast food restaurant in downtown Atlanta. I parked and waited in the car for my contact. Since I had time, I brushed my hair and put my eyeliner on. Shortly after 10 o'clock I received a call from my contact. I gathered my club essentials which is nothing more than a Michael Kors clutch containing my ID, lip gloss, and a few dollars for drinks (I was sure I would need it). I got out of the car, and walked towards The Apache Cafe making my way through a graffiti filled alley.

A late night, in a creepy alley, spray painted walls, and loud music heard from a block away... I thought to myself, now this is Hip-Hop! I proceeded to the entrance where I met The Next Big Artist Windsor Jones and his manager Cooley James. We did a "walk-thru" and the acknowledgements from the host Fortknoxville lead the crowd into cheer. The Mayor of the Streets, DJ Tokars took the stage and saluted Windsor Jones as we passed. Continuing to the second level of the cafe just before entering the patio area, I found a cozy, quaint little spot off to the side to sit. The surrounding brick walls had a similar feel to that of a European-London like cellar. I began to take notice of the cultured environment in which I was present. Coffee mugs on select tables, abstract painting on walls and international people of various backgrounds filled the cafe. I re-positioned myself to get comfortable where i could enjoy a clear view of the stage. Someone from behind tapped me on the shoulder, I was locked and loaded with a quick response, ready for any pick-up line that has ever been thought off! I turned my head to the young man that was now standing beside me; he leaned in and said "sorry I spilled my drink," gesturing to the arm rest. I nodded my head and smiled in appreciation to his politeness, and returned to my note taking.

Kelvin, from Makin It Magazine congratulated the upcoming artists of the Exposure Open Mic showcase on investing in themselves. He informed them to not only market their music online but to physically push their product in the streets and to realize the importance of a publicist (this hint of insight definitely had my attention as I transition from blogger to publicist, Hooray Kelvin!).
Well-known underground artist put on great shows throughout the night. Then, the strangest thing happened! A slim, fare-skinned girl with long dark hair, furry vest, a blvck sequin bando, and leggings took to the stage and grabbed the mic exclaiming, "Imma let you finish, Imma let you finish!" Again, my attention was drawn keenly to the stage as this was reminiscent to an even that has happened before. Ah, Ha! These were Kanye Wests' exact words to Taylor Swift at the MTV 2009 Video Music Awards. In the rawest of hip hop form she began to express herself, rapping acapella. After 8 bars or so, she passed the mic to a lyrically inclined, light-skinned woman with big blue hair, who passionately delivered a hot 16! I was elated to see women pull such a bold act. Taking control of their careers in a male dominated arena (not to mention in an environment that some outsiders may consider risque), was admirable to say the least. Halfway across the cafe I could see the special invited guest of tonight's event Windsor Jones celebrating all of the upcoming artist's achievements. Moving through the crowd, The Next Big Artist and his entourage joined me as we all had drinks, an uplifting smoke, and partied for the rest of the night.
